Spring Cleaning for the Home
It’s that time again – SPRING CLEANING! What a great time to empty the area under out sink of toxic cleaners! Keep reading for my tips on cleaning house… The Sunshine Concentrate will work on any surface without residue or fumes. It is extremely concentrated. Try it for lingerie and delicate clothes, as well as your floor. Outside your house, mix with water to spray your plants. The cleaner breaks the surface tension of the water and will allow your plants to assimilate the nutrients and minerals much easier. Also, the taste of it is a deterrent to the “chewing bugs” that might happen upon your plants. Try some of the non-toxic window cleaners finally available (though expensive) or use plain old white vinegar (a much cheaper alternative) for tile and mirrors. Remember to keep the white vinegar with the cleaners, not the food since it’s made with formaldehyde! The Nature’s Fresh is incomparable for odors – absorbs and digests the odors rather than covering them up. Also works on organic stains very well and all in a form that is completely non-toxic. The solid air fresheners are the worst things we can breathe so I encourage you to clean your home of those as well.
While you’re at it, clean out the medicine chest! Toss outdated items – replace others with natural alternatives (refer to my EmHERBancy post). Herbal Trim is fabulous instead of Calamine Lotion. Make sure your “cotton” balls really are cotton – most are polyester! Slippery Elm powder replaced my Pepto-Bismal; Combination Four took out the antihistamine; Blue Vervain and Ginger trashed the Dramamine; and CCA eliminated Contac. Alka-Seltzer can’t touch UC-C or plain yogurt. Try Tei Fu Lotion instead of Ben Gay; cider vinegar and Tea Tree Oil for anti-fungal sprays and creams. Throw in an Herbal Foot Care just as a treat!
