FAQ: What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are distilled from plants, especially flowers, and other materials. While a few (primarily from plants we would normally consume in other forms, such as lemon or mint) are intended for internal use, most are intended for external application or inhalation. Pure essential oils stimulate the limbic system and provoke a sympathetic nervous system (physiological) response, not an emotional one. Many have documented antibacterial and antiviral effects, while others enhance digestion, calm nicotine cravings or reduce inflammation.
